Happy “It’s-almost-the-holiday” Day!
I have a couple of copies of Captain Garrison that apparently got smudged at the last book signing at the Baker’s Nook. If you would like to be entered to get one of these seconds, leave a comment on this blog or it’s counterpart on Facebook before 6 am Friday. I’d love to hear something you are thankful for, or a prayer you are praying during this season. I will choose two names.
Also, I am selling an occasional Captain Garrison from our home since the last book signing. This gives you the option of buying an autographed copy with a matching bookmark if you wish to pay for shipping. Shipping is $3.27 by media mail, which isn’t much but is still kind of annoying.
So, in my best Amazon impersonation–ta da! If you email your order this weekend (Saturday or before, starting now) you will get free shipping anywhere in the United States. Media mail takes 3-10 days. You can still order an autographed book from me after the calendar rolls over to December, but you will need to pay the additional $3.27 shipping. Please follow the directions below exactly if you wish to order.
To order, Send me an email: Katrina@500-words.com Saturday or Before with:
- your mailing address
- how you are planning to pay
- how many copies you would like ($14.99 each; $16.04 each with sales tax)
- if you would like to purchase a copy of any of my other books: Blue Christmas, Shatterproof, Inferno in the Lost Pines, Faces of Syria, or Voices of Syria.
Available Payment Options to use:
- PayPal (use email Katrina@500-words.com)
- Call with your credit card information
- Send a check or cash; book will ship after payment arrives
Note: We will be in Mississippi over Thanksgiving visiting Marnell’s brother and family. So, unlike Amazon 🙂 I will not be able to ship books until next week.
Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t forget to leave a comment if you wish to be entered in the drawing.

I’m grateful for my beautiful family, 4 boys and 4 girls, my wonderful husband, and our home together. I’m praying for all the orphans around the world, and asking for a miracle to bring one more child home!!!!!! I’m also praying for grace and strength to provide respite care for 4 more little children for the next two weeks.
Thankful for every hill I’ve climbed, for every time the sun didn’t shine; thankful for every lonely night I prayed until I knew everything was all right. I’m thankful for the valley I walk through today.
That’s a huge testimony. God bless you with light in the valley.

I am a Canadian, so technically it’s not thanksgiving here right now, but I think that thanksgiving should be practiced daily (something I need to work on). I am thankful for freedom in our country in so many things – a gift I too often take for granted!

I’m thankful for time I’ve been able to carve out for a little pleasure reading even though I’m a homeschooling mom of five, farm raised, all the time hungry children! Winning your book would give me another title to pick up. 😄
Happy Thanksgiving to you & Marnell and your boys!

I am so grateful for so many things, it’s hard to nail one down. I’m grateful for our little one, living it’s best life in my belly. He is the period at the end of our 21 pregnancies sentence, and joins his 6 living siblings. The whole family has breathlessly celebrated every milestone, and now that he is halfway to the size of a watermelon, we are all daring to hope we will have an actual human to hold at the end.
We serve a wonderful and gracious God! My brother who had a dirt bike accident 3 mo ago and broke a vertebrae and crushed his ankle took his first steps this morning! So thankful!

Thankful for my family and the blessing of communication with those far away. The smell of wood smoke and sounds of leaves and acorns falling all around on this breezy day. If I win just write free matter for the blind and send it on. 😉
Even tho I’m sleep deprived to the point of borderline psychosis, I am thankful that the illness plaguing our house is not a stomach bug as it was last year in the midst of thanksgiving prep.
I’m thankful for family… and that we get travel to see them this weekend! Also, I’m thankful for our little family, just expanded by a precious month old little girl!

I am thankful for my children and grandchildren, the ones near and the ones far away!
Even though I am couch-bound this holiday (because of recent surgery), there are so many things to be thankful for! Top ones for me right now are, living close enough to my family and their willingness to do the things I can’t do, and for my boys, who will all be home for Thanksgiving – and their stepping up to the plate as well. They take care of their mother well. 🙂
There are so many things that I am thankful for, God, family ,friends, health, strength to go through each day, my husband and children, a warm house to live in, food to eat, the freedom to live in peace, clothing, even for eyesight and our other senses, Christian schools, churches, the Bible, good books😉, and many more things!
