A Writer Walks Into a Bar Code

One night earlier this week, I sat in bed, holding a water bottle. As I stared at the bar code, I was filled with a great longing to walk into that cool, orderly world of black and white stripes.

That’s when I knew my sanity was in question, and it was maybe time for a weekend away.

So I have not too much to say. We are several hours from home and I have my nose on the trail of my next story. Marnell has been hanging out with his brother. The three of us had a late lunch at Grecco’s pizza, which has been in business since 1945 and therefore can be a setting in my next book.

Thanks to our Elkhart church family, the boys are having a fun weekend back in Elkhart.

A big thank you to those of you who have helped with Nick’s DC trip. I finally showed him the GoFundMe numbers and his eyes got wide. I’m really glad he doesn’t have to raise all the money himself considering the uncertain state of his living arrangements. I am just hoping that he can go on this trip no matter what happens.

But that’s all I have to say.

I’m taking a break from the outside world, hiding in the black and white lines of the 1960’s. Time alone with my husband and researching for a book? Yes, it’s cool and orderly here.

I’m in my bar code!

  1. Grecco’s Pizza. I kept thinking that sounded soooooo familiar. You aren’t in Bedford are you?

We used to have a little farmett about 10 miles from there and we went to Grecco’s often. Great pizza!

I’m just a little ways north of there now.

I’m just a hop, skip, and a jump north of there now.
