The Weary World Rejoices…

The snicker doodle candle is flickering. Jay is reading James Herriot aloud to us, Kristie is looking through my book shelf and Kelsie is sitting on the carpet playing with the babies. Stan and Kerra have the Christmas I Spy and have just finished racing each other to see who can find the items first, Stan with a cup of mint tea and Kerra with fresh coffee.

The games, relaxation, food, and laughter of the last few days were fun. But I think our foot journeys around my neighborhood and to the hospital, and the carols we broke into, were my favorite.

“What’s your favorite carol phrase?” I ask them tonight.

And with their answers, I will leave you with a brief blessing.

The babies have no opinion, other than being cute and crying and craving more sugar and glitter than their mothers prefer.

Oh night divine! (Stan)

May you be inspired by it, all these centuries later!

How silently the wondrous gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts the blessing of his heaven! (Kerra)

May you find the blessing in your human heart, just as subtly and silently.

Thou hope of the soul, while around us the dark billows roll. (Kelsie)

May your dark billows not smother your hope.

Giving a light to those who long have gone! (Jay)
May your journeys always end with light.

Be near me Lord Jesus I ask thee to stay….Kristie

May Jesus be with you.

And in any weariness of your post-holiday world, may you rejoice.

Good night!
