Official Announcement from Brady Street: It’s a Girl!

Anina Mary: Born Wednesday morning 1231 am, 7 pounds 9 ounces and 20 inches long.

Anina and I are both doing well despite mom going to the operating room six hours after birth for a D & C. We are very grateful for good health, the competent staff at Elkhart General Hospital, and the blessing of avoiding a c-section.

In case you can’t see the photo, our little cuddle bug is named Anina Mary. Anina (which rhymes with Katrina) means “answer my prayer” in Aramaic, the old Middle Eastern language that Jesus and his disciples spoke. We are honoring our neighbor Mary (who you may know from my writing) with the middle name as well as the Mary’s in our families. Both Marnell and I have a great-grandmother named Mary. In Marnell’s family, the name was used every other generation, and his mom is Mary Etta. I have an Aunt Mary Ann on my Mom’s side of the family and an Aunt Mary on my Dad’s side who I remember as a single lady who brought us birthday presents when we were children.

As I mentioned before, don’t expect much activity on this blog post for the month of May. 🙂 I do plan to send a note by email shortly. As you probably understand, I’m a little cautious about posting Anina’s photo online excessively. Email feels a little safer!

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement and joining us in the celebration of Anina’s birth!

Note: if you thought you subscribed to receive emails but don’t think you’re getting them, be sure to check your promotions folder. See the graphic below which may help especially if you use gmail.
