Day #1, four observations

Things I learned:

  • The country of Jordan doesn’t stock pretzels. (“Pretzels?” The clerk at the little airport shop looked up and asked  blankly. You know, kind of like crackers… Never mind, that’s fine!)
  • Prayers (thank you!) and eating a few well timed bites of food can stave off vomiting on a plane. (I did vomit four times on the first flight, but the last one was shocking because I felt better when I got off than on.  Vomiting in an enclosed space with 200 people listening is its own form of persecution By the way. And I also spilled my Sprite on the person beside me.)
  • For all its problems, Syria is a beautiful place. (“I love it, it’s my home, I cannot leave”, someone told me today.)
  • Only been here a few hours in the dark but I’m afraid I’m falling in love with Beirut!

After 10p, must sleep.
