Bonhoeffer Interview

I was honored to be a guest on tonight’s French Press Podcast.

If you love interesting and comical, you’ll love Reuben and Leighton and Eric and their friends.

I would not say that my topic, Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy is comical.  Bonhoeffer’s work in Hitler’s Germany, and Germany’s church, has a depth of content that can’t be contained in 15 minutes. Listen to the conversation here.  Our discussion is in the second segment.

Bonhoeffer’s complete commitment to God makes him a person to admire:

He differentiated between Christianity as a religion like all the others–which attempt but fail to make an ethical way for man to climb to heaven of his own accord–and following Christ, who demands everything, including our very lives.  page 84

Thank you, Brother Bonhoeffer, (he liked this title) for inspiring me.

Thank you, Eric Metaxas, for a fascinating book.

Thank you, Dr. Halloran, for mailing it to me.

Thank you, Reuben and Eric, for letting me talk about it on your podcast.

  1. If you are interested in Bonhoeffer, hopefully you’ve heard Focus on the Family’s Radio Theater’s production on Bonhoeffer’s life. You are missing out on several hours of fascinating listening if you haven’t. It is called “Bonhoeffer: The Cost of Freedom”
